Fashion Inspiration - Michael Jackson

During his lifetime, Michael Jackson was a man of many extraordinary talents. People around the world grew up listening to his music on the radio, and marvelling at his videos on television; now that he has passed, many feel like they have lost a beloved lifelong friend.

For 39 years, his music was there when they celebrated special occasions and helped to comfort them during difficult times. In turn, they witnessed both his accomplishments and his controversies; his strengths and his weaknesses. He was an enigmatic public figure who influenced the world in many ways, especially through his music, dancing and style.

Since this is a fashion blog, I think the best way for me to pay tribute to Michael Jackson is to dedicate this post to his style which was just as creative, fearless and iconic as his music and dancing.

It is clear to see that over the years, MJ's unique, unforgettable style has had a big influence on both menswear and womenswear. His clothing choices - particularly during the '80s and '90s - usually included heavy embellishments (sequins, beads, military-inspired decorations), metallic fabrics and hardware, bold prints and colour combinations (black, white and red were preferred colours), dark aviator sunglasses and a snazzy fedora hat.

Though he was only 50 when he died, Michael Jackson managed to achieve an astounding entertainment career and his legacy as the 'King of Pop' will continue to live on in our hearts and minds.

Below are some thrilling yet affordable MJ-inspired clothing and accessories.

Float like a Fashionable Butterfly

Butterflies are exquisite, beautiful creatures and the butterfly motif is a perfect addition to the summer wardrobe. The butterfly is symbolic of many good things to various people such as love, freedom, rebirth, and good luck - all great things to feel and experience when summer comes around.

When it comes to fashion, the butterfly motif can be interpreted in ways that caters either to those with extravagant tastes or those who prefer things a bit more subtle.

For me, the allure of the butterfly is in the subtlety of its thin delicate wings, the eye-catching designs and colours on its wings and the graceful, playful way it flies through the air. Any fashion piece that I wear which features the butterfly's likeness should reflect these qualities.

On the other hand, Mariah Carey, who is well known for her butterfly obsession, simply prefers her butterflies shiny and bedazzled.

My feelings towards butterflies haven't ventured into obsession zone but I definitely have a love for them. When I was a child, there was an area behind my house where an abundance of gorgeous butterflies would gather and I would spend long hours observing and playing with them. Unfortunately, this area was cleared some time later and I haven't seen such a large group of butterflies since. In fact, I'm lucky if I even see one. Butterflies are much like rainbows for me. They are such amazing, lovely creations that I rarely get the chance to see, so I can't help but smile and feel a sense of happiness when I do.

The pretty and playful butterfly motif was featured in the Spring/Summer 09 collections of designers like Badgley Mischka, Collette Dinnigan and Diane von Furstenburg (below).

These two ladies (below) who attended this year's Royal Ascot races proudly displayed their love for butterflies where everyone could easily see it - on their heads.

All about Stamps and Coins

Ok so I'm trying to serf blogs and I keep ending up at this blog http://stamps-coins.blogspot.com/ ...Ya tell me about it. I noticed this a while back that I always end up on the same blog (it changes on day to day) where I am stuck and can't get past. I have made it to about 6 or 7 blogs (my record) before I am stuck with this. Do not get me wrong it looks interesting and if I ever need to know about tin tin coins detected to the 80th anniversary, I will read the blog. Its just that the Blog does not have a next blog button. So I am forced to get back to the page I started with and try again. I have started from different blogs and the same thing happened. It kinda like the Mormon adds following my friend on youtube. He is not Mormon or searched it up. I am not picking on the stamps and coins blog. I am picking on Blogger... well making fun of. And if anyone is wonder what adds fallow me around you tube its Muslim dating and home reno shops. I am still trying to figure that one out. I mean if they did adds on what you search or watch I should have world news that is reported by cats in super hero costumes adds popping up. Pleas note that as far as I know there is no kitty news network... and there dressed like super heroes. I may have to search that. ...well uh I was not expecting that. I searched and I do not know if I should post it. It terns out that someone did make Cat News, And well. .... It is funny as hell. Though it does have about 2 or was it 3 swear words. I will post a link for Cat News so if you would like to watch you can. What was I ranting about? Oh well I'm to lazy. Night all.

No Reservations - Beirut

This I would have to say is the saddest episode of No Reservations. The come to the slowly rebuilt Beirut Lebanon to see all the food that the Lebanese people of Beirut have to offer to the world. Though on the first day one incident changes the table for everyone and it feels like the clock is reset back to 1990. I know the civil war ran from 1975 to 1990. But in though's few weeks it seemed like everything that was rebuilt was ripped right back down. The war started on 12th July 2006, the UN ceasefire started in the morning on the 14th of August but it did not really end till the 8th of September when the navel blockades where lifted.

Not all of them are small. ... And your name makes me hungry.) So here is a guy that has one of the best jobs in the world!

Welcome to Dubai

Welcome to Dubai is a 4 prater off of youtube. It feels like a promo vid at the start but it gets away from that and moves into the history of Dubai then back into promo mode. Each vid has a commercial at the beginning do not mind it. It will show you landmarks placed with dates that explain the growth of the emirate. I would love to go back into the old Dubai and is untouched nature, but sadly that is gone and for good I would say. Growth and expansion is good but not at the price of heritage. There needs to be a better grasp on the past in lots of countries before there history is barryied under the next mall. I am looking for other cities and countries around the world to show on this blog. It can give good ideas for travel options.

The Western Isles of Scotland

Here is a nice little advert/learning that found on youtube. I think these places look vary prity and just the right temp. My favourite season is Fall. Here in BC where I am it is not the like the Falls I grow up with at all. The falls I grow up with had every lawn covered with yellow, read and orange leaves (as we all know that the reason leaves change colour is dew to the shutting down of chloroplast in the leaves.) Wiki link, Simple link. Its all dew to the tree not being able to support

photosynthesis during the short winter days. But I also Liked the crisp cool air that terns your cheeks numb after a few hours of running around. It is my favourite season. Do not get me wrong I like summer but I spend more time lying on the floor in hot weather then any other time of the year. I would like to visit these places. They may look a bit boring but the boring things tend to sometimes be the most fun and leave long lasting memories. So here are the Vids.

Edged Out

The edgy styles of 2009 are a modern take on 80s rocker and 90s grunge looks. They're daring, striking and full of sexy attitude!

These edgy looks usually consists of things like leather, fringe, metal jewelry and embellishments, ripped fabric, faded denim, graphic patterns and both body conscious and loose-fitting clothing.

http://damstyle.blogspot.com, http://www.hoyfashion.co.uk

With looks this bold, particularly if it's not your usual style, doing too much at once may end up looking a little too contrived so it's important to do it in moderation.

If you want to do say, three pieces at once, one of them can be a major statement piece while making the other two more subtle.
Or perhaps every piece can be somewhat subtle but they work together to make one attention-grabbing outfit.

When you have found a style that works for you, you can then try to experiment with some more adventurous looks.

If you're looking to edge up your wardrobe, here are some cool, affordable pieces I found:

Warehouse Fringed Longline Vest
Price: UK
£40.00 (US$67.40)

H81 Electric Pole Tank
Price: US$10.90
