MADMEN Your Living Room! DWR & AMC Promote Season 4 With A Sweepstakes




If you're a fan of the AMC TV period drama about advertising, chances are you've already MADMEN-ed yourself. So, what to do next? How about a chance to MADMEN your living room?



In celebration of the much-anticipated fourth season of AMC's "Mad Men," the network and modern furniture store and company, Design Within Reach, announce a collaborative promotion to give one winner a chance to "Mad Men" his or her living room with a collection of new furniture that embodies mid-century modern aesthetics.


The Grand Prize is two pieces from DWR's exclusive Raleigh collection, the Skagen Coffee Table and Nesting Tables, and the Strata Rug, and the AJ Floor Lamp designed by Arne Jacobsen. (The winner may choose from in-stock fabrics and colors.)

Raleigh Armchair and Sofa:


Raleigh is a comfortable, modern collection that draws from mid-century Danish design. Wrapping around the back of this Armchair is a solid walnut frame that brings visual lightness and satisfying aesthetic tension to the design. The collection includes an 85" Sofa, Two-Seater 60" Sofa and Armchair, available in various colors.

Skagen coffee table and nesting tables:

Inspired by the mid-century designs of Arne Hovmand-Olsen, the walnut wood Skagen Table Collection (2009) includes this set of two Nesting Tables, as well as a Coffee Table.

AJ Floor Lamp:

Arne Jacobsen's AJ Floor Lamp (1960) echoes the oblique angles of his Series 3300 furniture, which included the Egg Chair and the Swan Chair. The heavy cast iron base of the lamp is a sloped wedge with a circular cutout that was originally designed to hold an ashtray and to maximize the lamp's functionality as a reading light, Jacobsen created a shade that tilts up or down, directing maximum light to where it's needed.

Strata Rug

The hand-knotted Strata rugs (2009) are handmade from wool using a technique that was inspired by a method for tying Tibetan knots. To create the structure of each knot, a stainless steel rod is temporarily placed along the width of the rug. The yarn is then wrapped around the rod, knotted and then wrapped again, with the process continuing for the entire length of the rug. The quarter-inch pile height won’t interfere with the opening and closing of most doors. The manufacturer is a member of Rugmark, the global nonprofit organization fighting to end child labor and improve educational opportunities for children in India, Pakistan and Nepal.

Blending technology, art and fashion, Dell and Threadless teamed up to offer an exclusive collection of original graphic creations. This artwork from the popular community-based design web site is available from the Dell™ Design Studio for customizing select laptop computers.

0 To 60 In... An Hour. The Infiniti Special Edition Bell & Ross Watch




Luxury Car manufacturer Infiniti and French-Swiss watch brand Bell & Ross have collaborated on a limited edition timepiece. The special edition BR03-92 Phantom Instrument, designed by Bell & Ross, is to commemorate the recently revealed Infiniti FX Limited Edition performance crossover. Only 100 of the individually numbered wristwatches will be available worldwide.





TECHNICAL DETAILS

Movement: Automatic mechanical ETA 2982.
Functions: Hours, minutes and seconds (all central hands). Date with quick correction.
Case: Diameter 42mm, 316L glass bead blasted steel with black ‘carbon-powder coating’ finish, and winding crown.
Back: Screw-down, stainless steel with engraving of the Infiniti signature and adjacent personalised limited edition serial number (1–100). Bell & Ross insignia etched below.
Dial: Galvanic Black. Infiniti purple-coloured seconds hand. Numbers, indexes, and photoluminescent finish for optimal night reading. Circular window for date display.

The launch of the exclusive timepiece, an elegant accessory for the discerning Infiniti customer and the watch collector, marks the collaboration of two brands which are synonymous across the globe with exceptional performance, craftsmanship, precision, and modern luxury.

The special edition BR03-92 Phantom Instrument has been designed by Bell & Ross to commemorate the recently revealed Infiniti FX Limited Edition performance crossover, restricted, just like the watches, to only 100 individually-numbered examples worldwide. However, such has been the extensive demand prior to the release of the watch, that only a handful remain.

The parallels from the fusion of Infiniti and Bell & Ross are clearly evident in the appearance of the piece. The black carbon powder finish, which encapsulates the 42 mm case, resembles the graphite finish applied to many exterior parts of the Infiniti FX Limited Edition and is just as beautifully-crafted. The seconds hand which sits on a galvanic black dial, is lined with a distinct purple coating, the same colour which lies at the heart of Infiniti’s brand identity, and can be seen everywhere from the instruments of the car to furnishings inside the Infiniti Centre.

Whilst on the move, it is all about the ownership experience which is personal and exclusive: the rear of each the 100 pieces has been engraved with the Infiniti signature and is complemented by an individual number of the edition within the BR03-92 Instrument Phantom Infiniti series.

With Iron Man 2 opening May 7th, the glut of marketing tie-ins and giveaways (purported to cost 100$ including media buys) has already begun to hit the market. In addition to the expected special edition video games, comic books, and action figures, there are fragrances, cookies, motor oil, a special edition Audi r8 and even a limited edition 18ct gold LG mobile phone.
